Yes, absolutely!
Since Adventrs are usually composed of multiple video clips or branches, you'll need to make separate subtitle/caption files for each of the clips in your Adventr. We recommend outputting them in the VTT format.
Then in the media sidebar for your Adventr, hover over each clip and click the "CC" icon, where you can upload your VTT files and specify the language and whether it is a subtitle (translation of the audio language) or caption (transcript of the spoken audio and sound effects) file.
Once you've uploaded and set subtitles and/or captions for some or all the clips in your Adventr, you can publish it and you'll see a new menu appear in your player. It will include all the language options available throughout your Adventr:
If you want subtitles switched on by default for all viewers, you can switch to the Options tab in your project and choose a language from the "Default Subtitles" menu. Once you publish your project, the default will be turned on for all embeds or shares of your Adventr.
You can also override the default language within your embed code, enabling you to use one published Adventr on a multilingual site, and have it show the correct subtitles for the viewer's chosen language. To override the default language you need to add a parameter inside the src="" part of the embed code. The parameter is added as &subs=subtitles:de where you separate the type (subtitles or captions) from the ISO 639-1 language code using a colon.
Some example parameters:
- &subs=captions:en (English captions)
- &subs=subtitles:de (German subtitles)
- &subs=subtitles:ja (Japanese subtitles)
If you VTT or SRT files doesn't appear to be working, here's a few things to check:
- Be sure that the starting timecode from the clip is set to 00:00:00
- Make sure there's no HTML in the file for formatting purposes.
You can also select a default language on your published Adventr page by adding the same parameter to the URL.
